Principle 7: Find Faith

Faith is being confident of what we hope for and certain of what we cannot see.  Hebrews 11.1

Faith Produces Obedience, Obedience Produces Faith

Sometimes we walk by sight, other times we walk because He tells us to.  Faith is a mystery, grounded in the vision that – God is enough.  That regardless the consequences, obedience to Jesus Christ is the best thing for you.

Faith is displayed in how tightly you hold things.  If things are always yours, then your hope becomes rooted in that thing.  Jonathan Pokluda said, “The tighter we grip, the more pain when it is taken away.”  Things in this world are yours for a season to steward to the glory of God.  Faith is holding things loosely, knowing that there is a hope and a future, and walking in light of that truth.

Faith is Not Solo

It’s great to be an independent operator, wonderful teams are built when everyone is an independent operator.  However, the best teams work together with their excellence and drive success through combined individual effort, with focus on gifting and talents.

Success is empty by yourself.  Standing on top of a mountain.  Holding a trophy.  Running a billion dollar business is tougher when it is by yourself.  You begin to isolate, draw back, trust is lost, friendships become leary.  You become about you in all things, you lose touch with reality and the gravity of this world begins to grip you tightly.

Don’t live by yourself.  Faith is bringing good counselors around you to direct your paths, to speak into your life and to guide your direction.

Faith is:

Hebrews 11 outlines men with Faith.  Men of God with great faith, that persevered, they never received what they were promised, but were caused to be patient knowing that God planned something better.  v. 39-40

  • Faith is not solo operation, but surrounding yourself with good people. v.7
  • Faith is not knowing the future, but trusting the future is planned out. v. 13-16
  • Faith is not submission to people, place or consequence, faith is submission to the Lord. v. 32-38
  • Faith is stepping down from power and privilege and identifying with slavery and suffering. v. 24-27
  • Faith is not always knowing, but stepping out and leading along the way. v. 30

Faith is turning around and heading back home to the Father.  Walking when there is no path. Stepping on the ground to recovery.  What’s a small way you can step out in faith today?

  1. Great word, Brandon. Loved this paragraph, “It’s great to be an independent operator, wonderful teams are built when everyone is an independent operator. However, the best teams work together with their excellence and drive success through combined individual effort, with focus on gifting and talents.” Think I’ve always thought of having faith in God and in myself. Reading this made me wonder about the faith I’ve had in others…or at least in God’s work in others. Gonna ponder. Thanks!

    • Thanks for the comment! Absolutely, – took me the longest time to begin to trust others, but more than that to trust that God could work through the wisdom of others. Love hearing from you! Have a good day bro!
